Working in membership, we are always focused on the ebb and flow of recruitment and retention. Every month brings a class of new members who are eager to get involved and conversations with existing members who may be trying to find their place at BATC-Housing First Minnesota.
Here is the thing. We love our members. Heather and I form the membership “team” and we are passionate about you. We are serious about your success. We are focused on your happiness. We want this relationship to last a long time. So, we think it’s time to get engaged.
You’re ready. We’re waiting. What do we do next? Here at BATC-Housing First Minnesota, we are loaded with ways to engage with your fellow members. Here are a few of the best ones:
Kickstart. Yes, you’re right. I talk about Kickstart all of the time. And there is a good reason for that! One of the first questions a new member asks when they join is “What do I do now?” You might be surprised that we also have a number of existing members who are asking the same thing. Every two months, we hold a Kickstart at the BATC-Housing First Minnesota offices and invite members to come learn about all things engagement. We have a talented staff and each of us are focused on a different aspect of the industry. At Kickstart, you can wrap your head around where you fit in so you don’t need to waste your time with areas you are not interested in.
Calendar of Events. Our calendar is jam packed with quality events. You will not find a monthly mixer here at BATC-Housing First Minnesota, but you will find thoughtful events that not only serve a purpose, but help you connect with other individuals in your industry with commons interests. We want you to join us for golf tournaments, clay shoots, galas, awards ceremonies, appreciation bashes, auctions, etc. We also have several social events centered around our Parade of Homes and Artisan Home Tour that are targeted at both consumer and business partners for a well-rounded grouping.
Serve on a committee. We aren’t only interested in your good looks; we also want you for your brain! We are lucky to have several active committees helping us serve our membership effectively. Staff is always on the lookout for members who want to get involved with the decision making and strategic planning of our committees. Kickstart is a great place to learn more about which committees have availability.
Refer a new member. Nothing says engaged member like referring someone you think will benefit from a membership with BATC-Housing First Minnesota. Not only do you get the warm fuzzy feeling of referring someone, but we will also give you $500 Member Bucks to spend at our Member Buck Auction later in the year!
