The BATC-Housing First Minnesota Foundation/HomeAid Twin Cities celebrated the completion of renovations on four apartment units for Avivo this April.
Together with Crystal Kitchen Centers and The Kingdom Builders, the Foundation held a reveal ceremony in one of the four apartments. These renovations transformed four of the eight units in the brownstone building and included new flooring, appliances, cabinetry and more. The other four units are planned to be completed in late 2018 or early 2019.
“As soon as I heard about the nearly 20,000 people Avivo helps each year, I knew that the BATC-Housing First Minnesota Foundation would be a great partner in helping them provide the kind of housing their clients deserve,” said Meg Jaeger, member at large for the BATC-Housing First Minnesota Foundation board of directors.
This Avivo apartment complex is home to women and their children who participate in Avivo’s family treatment program. Housing is critical for mothers to focus on recovery, go back to school, and find employment. The major renovations to these apartments will provide a better quality of living to help Avivo’s women and children achieve their goals of life-long wellness and success.
“I can’t even say enough about the importance of this remodel,” said Kelly Matter, president and CEO of Avivo. “Women are living with their children here and working really hard at recovery, at career training, and at getting back on their feet. This housing allows them to do that. This housing raises the bar in a way for these women that is essential. It is a difference-maker.”
