Chanhassen, MN- On Tuesday, leadership from ABC Millwork and Lyman Companies gave Congressman Erik Paulsen (CD3-R) an in-depth look of their production facility and lumberyard.
Joined by Housing First Minnesota staff and leadership, the group discussed the workforce crisis facing the housing industry. As long-time members of the industry begin retiring, more and more positions are going unfilled. Housing First Minnesota is advocating for a variety of solutions, including teaming up with other construction-related groups for the creation of Project Build Minnesota.
Additionally, Congressman Paulsen gave the group some insight to the work that lies ahead in Washington, D.C. after the August recess. “Tax reform is high on the list,” stated Congressman Paulsen, a senior member of the Ways and Means committee.
Conversations with elected officials is key to elevating the issues that face the housing industry. We were pleased to meet with Congressman Paulsen to discuss the numerous workforce challenges currently facing our members.
