On Friday, August 28, the Housing First Minnesota Foundation, Lennar, and Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) gathered in North Minneapolis to launch their latest charitable project.
Minnesota currently records approximately 275 veterans throughout the state that are experiencing homelessness—131 are located in Hennepin County alone.
This Housing for Heroes project in North Minneapolis will help to provide these veterans with stable housing. Once completed this 2,232 -square-foot, four-bedroom home will increase MACV’s capacity to serve more clients who are in need of a place to live.
Housing First Minnesota Foundation president, Jody Kern, stated during the ceremony, “As the philanthropic outlet for the homebuilding industry, our gift of housing demonstrates our service to those in our communities who are in need of stable and equitable housing.”
Bill Burgess with build partner Lennar remarked, “We all have felt the honor and privilege of participating in these [Housing For Heroes Project] celebrations and to help out our veterans who have given so much for our country. I think it is important for us to continue to remember to do that.”
Construction on the Housing For Heroes – North Minneapolis project will begin soon. Visit the Foundation’s website for progress updates.
