The Housing First Minnesota Foundation, Lennar, and Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) hosted a ribbon-cutting celebration event on Tuesday, October 22 in Minneapolis. It was a wonderful celebration of the partnership between the Housing First Minnesota Foundation, Lennar, and the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), and our three completed Housing for Heroes homes in North Minneapolis in 2024.
These three new Housing for Heroes homes mark the 12th, 13th, and 14th homes completed within this partnership. On average, each Housing for Heroes home provides housing for 8-10 veterans annually. Veterans and their families can live in MACV’s supportive housing for up to 2 years while they restore their mental health, gain job skills, receive necessary wraparound services, and overcome barriers to finding their own homes. The Housing First Minnesota Foundation is honored to be a part of this impact, and ultimately, our goal is to see veteran homelessness in Minnesota reach its functional end.
We were thrilled to be joined by representatives of the Housing First Minnesota Foundation, our build partner Lennar, and service provider MACV as we celebrated the completion of this critical work to provide stable, transitional housing for Minnesota veterans in need.
We would especially like to thank Jon Lovald, Chief Operations Officer from MACV, and Thiago Silva, Construction Manager from Lennar, for speaking and sharing their positive words, excitement for these projects, and dedication to their work to end veteran homelessness. More than 60 people attended this wonderful ribbon-cutting celebration.
All three homes will serve veterans and veteran family members experiencing homelessness as they move towards stability and healing. We look forward to continuing our partnership with MACV & Lennar in 2025 to impact veteran homelessness in the seven-county metro and greater Minnesota.
A special thank you to our grant funders and trade partners who made the completion of these three new Housing for Heroes homes possible.
