In 1958, our awards program began with one award category and just three winners.
Over the decades, our association and industry have grown and evolved – so has our awards program. Every year we present over 150 awards to companies and individuals who exemplify what it means to be a Housing First Minnesota member.
Just this spring we presented 23 Reggie Awards to homes selected for outstanding design, construction quality, and value, and 70 Trillium Awards for industry suppliers that partner with homebuilders on Reggie Award-winning homes.
These awards, along with others presented at the annual BIG Night, are an important value to our association and elevate the hard work and commitment of the homebuilding industry in Minnesota.
Although, over the decades, slight tweaks have been made to the program, it has been over 30 years since we made meaningful improvements. Timely modernization is key to ensuring this program’s continued influence.
As such, following member feedback and extensive research, we are making strategic improvements to our awards program this year to better identify and celebrate the vast network of talent in our state’s housing industry.
Guiding Principles
Our Housing First Minnesota Board of Directors adopted this modernization resolution under three key principles:
- Comprehensive Judging Criteria
- Expanded Categories Including Individual Achievements and Modern Industry Elements
- Modernized Judging Process for All Awards
Under these guiding beliefs, our award program is poised to better serve and represent the best our industry has to offer.
