After weeks of fast and furious activity, last Friday marked the final legislative deadline. Now on Easter/Passover break, legislators are back in their districts meeting with constituents before the final sprint of the 2022 legislative session.
Housing priorities that are still in the mix include language that would modify Planned Unit Developments (PUDs) and the ability of municipalities to require aesthetic mandates. Additionally, building permit surcharge reduction is included in omnibus bills in both chambers, and a construction license fee holiday is included in the House Labor Omnibus bill.
First generation homebuyers down payment assistance is also part of the ongoing discussion.
Finally, most provisions that would harm housing and housing affordability have not been included in many of the omnibus bills.
