BATC-Housing First Minnesota’s Advocacy team has continued its discussions with MnDOT on the status of the Spring load limit restrictions currently in place. The restrictions in the metro began on March 5 and as of March 22 the entire state has been under the seasonal load restrictions. MnDOT staff reports that next week will be a critical week in determining the end date for the restrictions. MnDOT policy cites an 8-week intent for the length of road restrictions. MnDOT has a three-day notice period for any changes in the status of load restrictions.
Local jurisdictions may continue restrictions if conditions warrant further restriction. Staff will continue its city engineer outreach and will relay any local restrictions that may exist beyond MnDOT’s regional and state restrictions.
BATC-Housing First Minnesota staff have contacted more than 20 local jurisdictional to see if they intend on placing additional load restriction.
