Over the past few months BATC has launched efforts to engage our members in both policy oriented and political levels. And the feedback we have received is tremendous!
We are an industry that is very civic-minded and goal oriented. Whether you are one of our “grasstops” major influencers or one of our “grassroots” extraordinarily aware constituents, our membership is excited to get involved.
The Home Builders Advocate Network (HBAN) first began at the beginning of 2016 with one-on-one meetings with nearly 50 identified industry “grasstops”.Thanks to the efforts of these chief influencers, HBAN has grown to over 500 individuals that are helping guide and influence our policy and political efforts. Several themes emerged from our outreach:
- Members unanimously report that the impact of government regulations is affecting their business and the housing affordability for their customers.
- Members support BATCs advocacy investments, want us to invest further, and virtually all expressed interest in helping elevate the industry through an advocate network.
- Workforce issues are a challenge for all segments of the industry.
- Environmental regulations are posing a unique challenge.
As we move into the 2016 elections and 2017 legislative session, BATC will utilize this group and their identified connections to help elevate the industry and work towards builder-friendly goals. We will continue to ask anyone and everyone with ties to the industry to get involved with HBAN. If we engage as an industry, we will succeed as an industry!
