Your BATC Foundation has some great projects lined up for 2016. Our feature project – and our first HomeAid Twin Cities build – will focus on providing transitional housing for homeless veteran-headed households. Partnering with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and Rebuilding Together Twin Cities, this project will provide MACV with an option for housing homeless veterans with families for the first time.
A lot and a prebuilt duplex have been secured in St. Paul. The hope is to start digging the foundation at the end of May to have the home move in ready by October. A build partner is still needed for this project.
To make things even more exciting, this build will be a feature service project for the attendees of the national Medal of Honor national conference, scheduled to be held in Minneapolis in October. The Medal of Honor is the military’s highest award and the living recipients will gather here in October to choose new recipients. For the first time, they will be participating in a local service project and have chosen our HomeAid Twin Cities build.
In addition to the MACV project, the BATC Foundation will be helping two veteran families with some much needed home repairs this summer. The first project will be helping an Oakdale veteran with some residing and exterior work. The build partner for this project will be ABC Supply Company. The other project will focus on helping a Oak Park veteran with foundation and other home repairs. This project is still in need of a build partner.
