BATC’s housing moratorium bill (HF 2585) advanced onto the State Government Finance Omnibus bill (HF 3168) last Thursday evening. This initiative would bring a measure of fairness to property owners by requiring a 10-day notice and public hearing prior to the imposition of a housing moratorium, several of which have cropped up recently in places like Minneapolis, Golden Valley, and Lake Elmo.
This move diversifies the pathway for our effort, as HF 3168 has several stops left in its journey. As a finance bill, it’s likely to be presented to Governor Dayton in some form as the legislature enters the stretch run over the next four weeks.
Stay tuned for updates.
