The discussion of the legislature’s various omnibus bills has been fast and swift in the first days of May. As conference committees iron out the differences between both chambers, BATC and the Minnesota REALTORS have continued to be deeply involved in these conversations. We are encouraged by the embrace of the Minnesota Homeownership Initiative as four pillars of the initiative are included in at least one omnibus bill. We look forward to the discussion with Governor Dayton as we enter the bell-lap of the legislative session. Here’s a run-down of where each item currently stands:
First-Time Homebuyer Savings Account: Included the Tax Omnibus Bill, HF 004, and the necessary appropriations are included in the State Government Appropriations Omnibus Bill, SF 605.
Rulemaking Review Oversight: Included in the Job Growth & Energy Affordability Policy & Finance Omnibus Bill, SF 1937, and the State Government Appropriations Omnibus Bill, SF 605.
Public Notice for Housing Moratorium: Included in the Job Growth & Energy Affordability Policy & Finance Omnibus Bill, SF 1937.
Prohibition of Sprinkler Mandates: Included in the Job Growth & Energy Affordability Policy & Finance Omnibus Bill, SF 1937.
