Using data from government and industry partners, Housing First Minnesota’s Housing Dashboard provides a look at housing affordability, access, and inventory in Minnesota.
Highlights From April 2022:
- Regionally, Minnesota continues to have the highest new, single-family detached (SFD) median home price at $467,406, up $7,000 from last month.
- Wisconsin Median New SFD: $356,550
- Illinois Median New SFD: $378,586
- North Dakota Median New SFD: $361,682
- Minnesota’s median new SFD home price disparity grew in March and is now nearly $111,000 higher than Wisconsin and nearly$89,000 higher than Illinois.
- Minnesota remains more than 57,000 housing units short, despite a 15 year-high in new housing production in 2021.
- February’s new construction figures brought Minnesota’s new housing production trend into positive territory.
- Minnesota continues to have one month supply of existing housing, up .1 months over the previous month. A healthy market has a six-months supply.
