The BATC-Housing First Minnesota Foundation/HomeAid Twin Cities is nearing the end of another life changing project. On Monday, residents were able to move into three of the four newly remodeled apartments owned by Avivo.
Avivo houses women along with their children as they seek services for substance addiction. Avivo specializes in proving services to women who find themselves struggling with repeated addiction relapse, co-occurring chemical and mental health diagnoses, homelessness, criminal backgrounds, or desire to re-unify with their children. The three units received a total renovation by build partner The Kingdom Builders and the BATC Housing First Minnesota Foundation.
Tamika Bazinet who will live in one of the units with her 13-year-old son, was just one of the residents excited to see the new space.
“It’s beautiful, I’m so grateful. It’s a total turn around, it doesn’t even look like the same place,” said Bazinet.
An additional unit is being renovated by build partner Crystal Kitchens. It’s expected to be completed in early April.
