The home building and remodeling industry made a strong impression at the State Capitol on March 12th for Builder Day at the Capitol. Leadership from BAM and BATC kicked it up a notch this year after several low key and low attended Builder Day events in the past.
This year was different. A renewed investment was obvious as area associations joined together to organize a large turn out for the event, which emphasized the importance of getting our industry in front of the legislature to talk about key industry issues. Our members responded! Over 150 people attended and nearly 70 meetings took place between legislators and BATC members alone. Additional meetings by other area associations brings the tally to about 100 meetings in total.
Top issues included:
- Regulatory Burden
- HomeIndoor Sprinkler Mandate
- B2B Taxes
- Statewide Building Code Enforcement
- Subcontractor Registration
- Met Council Growth Policy
The caliber of this event was truly impressive, and the quality of the event — from the venue and food, to transportation and presentation — was highly praised by attendees. Video testimonials coming soon!
