As I am sure you can tell by reading your emails from BATC, there is never a dull moment in our office. And that is the way that we like it. Keeping this in mind, I wanted to share what is coming up in my own words with hopes that you will participate where it suits you.
As always, my first push will be our KickStart events. Whether you are a new member who wants to learn about BATC or an existing member looking to kickstart your membership, this is a great event for you. We hold them bi-monthly at our office and they are very well attended. BATC staff attends so that you can meet them and place a name with a role for any future questions. We also have about 45 minutes of networking after the presentation which gives you a great opportunity to learn more about your peers.
I hope you have been paying attention to the information being disseminated regarding our Public Policy work. We had another exceptional session at the Capitol this spring with many new policies benefitting our members directly in big ways. My personal favorite place to get all public policy updates is the BATC blog. You can find it at blog.housingfirstmn.org/. You may think that Public Policy doesn’t affect your business day to day, but I am willing to bet it has more of a direct impact than you think.
You may have heard that our BATC Open golf has expanded to one morning and two afternoon shotguns. If you didn’t manage to get a tee time, you can STILL take advantage of the networking. Feel free to join us for the dinner portion of the event. You can hear all about the day of golf, enjoy some cold beverages, great food and win some sweet prizes! After a day of golf and fun, our members are in a relaxed mood and ready to enjoy some down time with great friends. Consider joining us! It is on August 3rd at Majestic Oaks Golf Club. Next is an event that I am extra excited for! Housing First Minnesota has joined forces with the Minnesota Realtors Association for Housing Day at the Fair. Spend the day with us at the MN State Fair celebrating and promoting all things housing in Minnesota. We are so excited about all the awesome things we have been doing with our local Realtors. It is an amazing partnership with a great group of professionals. You can find more information about the August 28th event on our website.
Those are the events on my immediate radar, but I encourage you to always check our Calendar of Events on the BATC.org website at www.batc.org/events. Most important to me personally is that you feel connected to your BATC membership. There are so many opportunities to plug in at BATC that it can sometimes be overwhelming and feel like there is nothing for you. We hope that you will always feel comfortable reaching out to us directly to ask how YOU can get involved. It is different for every member and we are happy to assist in any way that we can! Don’t be shy!
