Updated April 16, 2026.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced that spring load restrictions (SLRs) will end in the SOUTH, SOUTHEAST, and METRO frost zones will end starting Monday, April 20.
Spring load restrictions end dates are variable and based on weather.
When SLRs are lifted, middle-range overweight permits will become available. Full-summer overweight permits can be issued for travel on the interstate system only during the spring load restriction period and will become available two to three weeks after SLRs are lifted.
MnDOT will report start and end dates locally at 651-366-5400.
