Since 2011, more than 5,000 Green Path Home Performance Reports (HPRs) have been issued. During the Fall 2011 Parade of Homes, 4% of the homes participated in Green Path Energy Tour. During the recently completed Spring 2016 Parade of Homes, 70% of the homes participated.
Green Construction – Why it Matters
Green construction is important to the home building industry, consumers and the nation because it promotes lower total ownership costs through utility savings and increased durability, as well as an improved indoor living environment. It encourages environmental awareness and stewardship. And, it more efficiently uses increasingly scarce resources, helping to conserve them for future generations.
BATC’s Minnesota’s Green Path is an energy testing and green certification program for new and remodeled homes. In partnership with Residential Science Resources, Green Path sets standards for green construction and provides each homeowner with a Home Performance Report (HPR) detailing the energy efficiency of a home with a graphic representation of exactly how green the home is.
