Capitol insiders have described the pace of the Minnesota Legislature as a more “mid-session like feel.” Things are moving quickly and this week was no exception.
The week was comprised of Governor Mark Dayton delivering the annual State of the State speech on Monday, the release of his proposed budget on Tuesday, and the passage of health insurance relief legislation which was signed into law on Thursday.
Homeownership Initiative Update: Last week we saw two bills introduced in both chambers, one aimed at improving transparency & efficiency in government decision-making, and another that would help manufactured home owners with title issues affecting the ability to transfer ownership.
Next week, BATC’s moratorium bill will be heard during the House of Representative’s Government Operations and Elections Policy Committee on Tuesday, January 31 at 10:15 AM in the basement hearing room. All members are welcome to attend or you can follow BATC social for updates.
More housing-friendly bills are in the process of being drafted and will soon be introduced. Look for additional details about the full release of the Minnesota Homeownership Initiative next week!
