This week marked the final legislative deadline for finance bills to be heard and passed out of committee. With that milestone now complete, lawmakers will shift their focus to more frequent floor debates in the weeks ahead.
While the Minnesota Starter Home Act did not receive a favorable committee vote, discussions around many of its key provisions remain active among legislators. Additionally, language aimed at preventing the unnecessary creation of homeowners associations continues to be included in the HOA omnibus bill moving through the House.
“At the start of any legislative session, the priority is to do no harm to housing,” said Mark Foster, Vice President of Legislative & Political Affairs. “At this stage, we feel confident that no major new mandates harmful to the industry are advancing.”
“Additionally, we continue to see strong bipartisan support for many of the positive housing policies included in the Starter Home Act,” Foster added. “Stay tuned for more movement on that front.”
