As another school year comes to a close, Housing First Minnesota would like to thank several members who took time out of their busy schedules to share their experiences and career journeys with students across the state. Workforce development remains one of the most important issues facing our industry, and these conversations help students better understand the opportunities available to them in the skilled trades and residential construction.
This year, Andy Michels of Michels Homes, John Quinlivan of Gordon James, and Jessie Otto of Brush Masters shared their experiences with students in communities across Minnesota. Michels connected with students at Chisago Lakes High School, Quinlivan spoke at Rogers High School, and Otto visited Intermediate District 287 in the west metro.
Each of these members reported having a valuable experience, noting that students were engaged, curious, and asked thoughtful questions about careers in the trades and construction industry.
The experience proved valuable for everyone involved. While students gained insight into rewarding careers they may not have previously considered, our members also had the chance to connect with the next generation of talent.
As the demand for skilled workers continues to grow, industry outreach efforts like these play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s future workforce.
