This week, we celebrated an incredible milestone—the ribbon cutting and completion of Housing First Minnesota Foundation’s 15th Housing for Heroes home, located in St. Paul. Built in partnership with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and Build Partner Lennar, this project marks another powerful step in our shared mission to end veteran homelessness in Minnesota.
The new home will provide stability and dignity for veterans and veteran family members experiencing homelessness in Ramsey County and the Twin Cities metro area. Designed as a three-bedroom residence, it will offer safe transitional housing and essential wraparound services, helping veterans rebuild their lives and move toward independence. This home site also includes a one-bedroom accessory dwelling unit (ADU) that will house an additional veteran in need.

Since the launch of the Housing for Heroes initiative back in 2017, the Housing First Minnesota Foundation and its partners have worked tirelessly to ensure that every veteran in Minnesota has a place to call home. What began as a single build project has grown into a movement—15 homes strong—providing shelter, security, and hope to hundreds of veterans and their families.
Each project has been made possible through the generosity of builders, trade partners, donors, and volunteers who share our belief that no one who has served our country should be without a home. Together, we’ve created more than 65 beds for veterans across the Twin Cities metro and strengthened the system that helps bring an effective end to veteran homelessness in Minnesota.

The Cottage Avenue ribbon cutting celebration is more than a construction milestone—it’s a testament to what collaboration and compassion can achieve.
Together, we’re building homes. Together, we’re changing lives.
