On Veterans Day, we pause to reflect on the sacrifices and commitment of the men and women who serve and have served our country. Their courage, resilience, and dedication remind us of the freedoms we enjoy—and the responsibility we have to support our veterans when they return home. At the Housing First Minnesota Foundation, we are honored to play a part in that support. This year we are proud to spotlight three major projects completed in 2025—each designed to bring stable housing, dignity, and community to veterans and their families in Minnesota.

Veteran Village — Supportive Housing Community
Veteran Village is a first-of-its-kind semi-permanent housing community with 22 homes providing dignified housing for up to 36 veterans and their families. Residents at Veteran Village receive supportive wrap-around services through our partner, Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), helping break the cycle of homelessness.
Veteran Village is more than buildings—it’s a community where veterans can restore stability, rebuild relationships, and reintegrate with courage and dignity. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 3 to celebration the completion of this project, and residents are expected to begin moving in prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Bravo Zulu House — Winnebago
In July 2025, Bravo Zulu House was completed in Winnebago. This is the nation’s first all-military sober house for veterans with PTSD—a 13-bed home designed specifically to meet the unique sober housing needs of veterans. The name “Bravo Zulu” is a naval signal meaning “well done”—symbolizing a welcome home, a salute to service, and a celebration of the next chapter in recovery.
Key features of Bravo Zulu House include a hydroponic farm and canine companions for each resident; as well as a holistic approach, with therapy, counseling, and community engagement built into daily life.

Housing for Heroes — St. Paul
We are also proud to highlight the Housing for Heroes: St. Paul initiative—our 15th home in the Housing for Heroes partnership with MACV and Build Partner Lennar. This three-bedroom home and accessible accessory dwelling unit (ADU) are designed to serve veterans and veteran families facing homelessness. Each Housing for Heroes home serves roughly 8-10 veterans annually, and MACV provides not only supportive housing but also job training, wrap-around services, and programs that provide the steps for veterans to move toward independent living. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in October to mark the completion of this 15th Housing for Heroes project.

As we reflect on these 2025 veteran-centered projects, we give thanks to those who served, to the families who support them, and to the communities who lift them up. Each Veterans Day, and with each project we embark on that is supportive of veterans, we are reminded of our mission: to continue building homes and hope for the veterans who have given us so much. Thank you to our veterans, and welcome home.
